I awoke to a gorgeous day, sunny, 75 degrees, with a slight breeze. I day to spend outside. We are planning on going to my parents and grandparents camp site this afternoon. So I am sure we will be walking the dunes and going swimming. I had a long quiet time this morning while my family slept. I am always amazed at the insights I get in just an hour of quiet. I am looking forward to the day with anticipation.

Sark is one of my favorite writers- fun, colorful and encouraging. She has a PDF worksheet on Micromovements. Micromovements are a way to get over procrastination. Micromovements are tiny steps to take your forward. Even smaller than baby steps. I just printed out the worksheet to read over and do.

I was watching the O'Reilly Factor last night while reading magazines. He told of a story where a lady had allegedly laid down on train tracks (she claims she can't remember anything, but she was diagnosed with post-partum depression by her doctor). The train was notified that someone was on the tracks. 6 minutes later, the lady was still on the tracks and gets run over. She sues for 10 million and wins. Unbelievably, a botched suicide and she gets rich. Do people not take any responsibility for themselves?

My co-workers told of another story where a man was trying to kill himself using the subway. He was rescued by a concerned stranger, but broke two legs in the process. He sued. My co-workers were unsure whether the man sued the subway or the kindly stranger. In either case, he won the suit. It is bad enough these people are suing, where are they getting these juries?

I was tired when I woke up this morning. My parents wanted to stay up talking. Finally at midnight I told them I needed to go to sleep. I had a tiring project at work. I was designing a chart with lots of lines and about a hundred medical terms. My eyes grew buggy and my shoulders were sore from spending too much time at the computer. Then two problems as I was leaving had me working late. I got home bushed. After I made dinner I went to my room and watched some TV while reading magazines. DH brought in a massage mat I have for my back. I feel so much better now. Enough computer for today!

Party Time
Dd7 had a terrific time eating sundaes and running through the sprinkler with her friends at her mini-party. You would not believe how many toppings those kids put on.

I found an excellent goal-setting site: http://sparkpeople.com/myspark/index.asp

My parents just showed up. See ya tomorrow.

and the rational mind a faithful servant.

We have created a society
that honors the servant
and has forgotten the gift."

Quiet Time

Sometimes you just need it quiet. The weekend was fun. DH's mom took dd7 for another day. DH and I went to see Minority Report. When DH told me the movie was almost 2 1/2 hours I didn't believe him at first. The movie went by very fast. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenes were wonderfully futuristic, the characters developed, humor injected in what otherwise could have been a very serious film, and the pace was fast.

On Sunday I got my candle from the candle shop, so it now sits on my entertainment center. DH and I read the paper, then he went down to his parents to pick up our daughter. I decided to stay at home. I was beginning to get irritable about have very little time alone. I couldn't even read the paper in peace. After he left I was able to read without interruption, get my head on straight about goals, priorities and a mounting to do list, played the piano, and did some writing. I played with my favorite PDA program: LifeBalance. I can't wait till they get a desktop version for my PC.I also found some I also found a lot of templates for Handy Shopper. I felt so much better on my family's return and I gave my dd the biggest hug before I read her a story.
