I've been doing some genealogy research this morning. I've been working through Dear Myrtle's Genealogy organization columns. They are more than just about organizing your genealogy things. The columns take you step by step in researching your ancestory. These are more A< HREF=http://www.geocities.com/swpetite1/Links.html#genealogy>Genealogy Links I use.

I also updated my book list for Organizing this morning.

The Friday Five

1. Where were you born? Dayton, Ohio

2. If you still live there, where would you rather move to? If you don't live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not? I moved to the Chicago suburbs when I was only 3, so I don't remember Ohio. Now I live in West Michigan, and I love it here.

3. Where in the world do you feel the safest? Camping up North

4. Do you feel you are well-traveled? Only around the United States. I've been to just about every state. But, I would love to travel overseas.

5. Where is the most interesting place you've been? Wow, I think just about every place is interesting. Most are unique in there own way. My favorite places I have visited are San Antonio, New Orleans, Last Chance Colorado, and the Grand Teton National Park.

I awoke at 4 am the other morning. After lying in bed 30 min more I decided to get up. The quiet was amazing. I had my devotional time then I scrapbooked till DH came home from work at 7:00. I felt so creative and revived. I didn't even feel tired the whole day. Today on the other hand...

Here is an interesting scrapbooking site, for scrapping your personal stories : Scrap Your Stories. Here are rest of my favorite scrapbooking links.

"Leave something unsaid. Don't give away every detail. Make room for
mystery."
Veronique Vienne, <The Art of Doing Nothing
(A beautiful book to browse through)

Yesterday was a stressful, hurried day at work and coming home at lunch to bring ds to a birthday party. When I came home to bring the kids to the library book, they hadn't gotten their books ready like I asked them and one of the books was lost. I was grumpy, grumpy. When I got home I had a bunch of other things to do. I decided the only way I would do them if I had rewards for everything. I folded clothes, read a chapter in a book. Went through papers, played 3 songs on the piano. It turned out to be a pleasant night. DS and I got his invites done (then I had a smoothie). Dd and I played play-doh. And I spent some time with dh.

Today was another stressful work day. I got slammed with design projects. But, this time I took e-mail and breathing breaks. I was able to read my book at lunch. After work I took the kids to the scrapbook store. DS needed stickers for his invitations and I needed some scrapbook stuff since my pictures from our anniversary trip to Mackinac will be back tomorrow. I also got my haircut. I remember when I was a stay-at-home mom I would go a year before getting my haircut.

"The entire object of true education is to make people not merely do the right things, but enjoy them; not merely be industrious, but love industry; not merely learn, but love knowledge; not merely be pure, but love purity; not merely be just, but hunger and thirst after justice."
--John Ruskin

I was having trouble with my blogger this weekend. It said it couldn't read the template. But, apparently it can now. The campground at Silver Lake was lovely. The water was warm and we all had a blast swimming. In the evening we had a potluck. The kids fell asleep on the way home.

Sunday we went to the Muskegon Air Fair. I hadn't been to an air show since Chicago over 10 years ago. The roar of the jets made us plug our ears. We marveled at the craziness of the Wing Walker. The Stealth plane made 4 passes overhead. The Harrier Jet was my favorite. The plane can stop in midair, go backwardsand go up and down like a helicopter. The Missing Person's Formations with F-14's was done in rememberance of a pilot that died in Afganistan. He had two little kids. Very sad. They also did a re-enactment of Pearl Harbor. After the main show, the pilots and the crew chiefs were next to planes on the ground. My kids were asking all kinds of questions. The men were so kind and patient answering the questions. They also signed autographs for the kids. The kids also were able to go into some planes and helicopters. We were the last people on the last shuttle. No one wanted to leave. The heat was a bit much during the day, though. I had to keep going into the shade of the huge Galaxy airplane's wings with my daughter. We ate frozen lemonade to keep cool. The kids slept on the way home Sunday also.

Today, after work, DH and I took the kids on a 1 1/2 hour hike at the Outdoor Discovery Center. I couldn't believe all the animals we saw- deer, rams, turtles, frogs, birds, and bugs of all kinds. We had a most delicious dinner- French Bread, Havarti and Sharp Cheddar Cheese, cherries, green beans, cucumbers and tomatoes from the Farmer's Market, and grapes. For dessert we each had a piece of my daughter's Snickers birthday cake. She and I cleaned up the kitchen together. Tonight my son and I were working on the invitations for his birthday party. My daughter didn't like that he was monopolizing my time tonight, so I wrote on my to do list for tommorow: Play Play-Doh with DD. Time for bed!

[7/13/2002 9:24:53 AM | Beth Dargis]
I awoke to a gorgeous day, sunny, 75 degrees, with a slight breeze. I day to spend outside. We are planning on going to my parents and grandparents camp site this afternoon. So I am sure we will be walking the dunes and going swimming. I had a long quiet time this morning while my family slept. I am always amazed at the insights I get in just an hour of quiet. I am looking forward to the day with anticipation.
