After work we relaxed by going out to eat and to the beach with some friends. The breeze was producing pretty good size waves for the kids to jump in. Tired and worn out, we finished off the night with a DVD.

I wrote a Back to School Checklist to help myself and others get ready for the school year.

Here is a great checklist to make sure you get all those weekly things done. It is called, The Friday Checklist

The Sphere of Life helps give you a snapshot of your life.

Today DH and I took the kids shopping for party stuff for son's party on Saturday.

"I have resolved from this day on, I will do all the business I can honestly, have all the fun I can reasonably, do all the good I can willingly, and save my digestion by thinking pleasantly."
- Robert Louis Stevenson

I struggles with thinking pleasantly yesterday. My boss thought he found another mistake yesterday which wasn't. He gave me the talk about "too many mistakes" recently. I think it has been 2 in the past 2 months, before that maybe 1 in the past 3 months. In most professions that would be good. I'm doing at least 99% perfect. But, I felt like I was run over by a train most of the day. Even though I got one client coming in yesterday afternoon raving at my "genius" and saying how calm, patient and pleasant I am to work with. Too bad my boss was in the back and didin't hear anything. My husband made me feel better by getting a silly comedy and taking me out to dinner. I went to sleep at 9:30 because I felt exhausted, yet had a hard time falling asleep.

Day 2: before bed, up by 6am. The goal-every day till Aug. 31

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.

- Epictetus

Boy, I needed to hear that quote this morning from yesterday. I have been plagued with a stupid mistake I made at work. It was fixed, but I still feel terrible. I had trouble sleeping and dwelled on it too long yesterday. It was my son's birthday yesterday so I kept the thoughts at bay by reading to the kids, cooking his favorite meal, doing the birthday cake thing and taking the kids to the pool for an hour and a half. The water has a great way of disinegrating burdens. I am going to try to visualize the water whenever those thought creep in so I can "forget them as soon as I can." I want to start this day serenely and in high spirits.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

I felt so productive today. After work the kids and I did a couple errands. At home I did an Easter page and a birthday page in the scrapbooks, while my daughter made a birthday card for my grandma. She will be 80 tomorrow. It's hard to believe, since she still seems so energetic. She and grandpa are constantly traveling, having people over, active in their church, going to concerts and plays and just loving life. I want to be like that when I get older.

After our French Toast dinner, I got done with some chores and projects I had procrastinating on for months. Boy, did that feel good!

In the evening I talk my daughter some piano and I played some songs myself, then read Little House to the kids. It's time for me to go to bed. I am taking the SHE challenge to change one habit this August. So I will be going to be by 10:00 and waking up ay 6:00.

I disappeared. Stressed out at work. And came down with some kind of cold. Probably a connection. I retreated into my own little world, reading, zoning in front of the tube, sleeping a lot. I am feeling better now. Today I spent the day with my kids playing Clue, Sorry, reading Little House, watching Scooby-Do and making fruit salad. I also did some genealogy and scrapbooking. I got the Book of Me an excellent book on scrapbooking your life.
